Alderfer/Three Sisters Park
Jefferson County Open Space park near the middle of Evergreen: rock formations, old ponderosa stands and, says the county, more trails per acre than any of its foothills parks. Two trailheads on Buffalo Park Road.
A Jefferson County Open Space park close to the middle of Evergreen, known for the Three Sisters rock formations, old stands of ponderosa pine and a dense network of short trails. There are two trailheads on Buffalo Park Road: the East Trailhead (30357) and the West Trailhead (31537), a mile apart.
The West Trailhead reopened after the county expanded its lot and replaced the restroom and kiosk; of its picnic shelters, Gooseberry and Kinnikinnick are first come, first served, and Foxtail and Poppy are booked through the Evergreen Park & Recreation District. The phone number is the county Parks & Open Space office in Golden (Mon–Thu 8 am–5 pm); the county’s non-emergency line is 303-980-7300.
Hours are the county’s standing park rule: no one on Open Space land from one hour after sunset to one hour before sunrise unless posted otherwise, and pets on a leash of ten feet or less (Park Regulations, read 6 October 2026).
