Evergreen Lake

The 40-acre lake on Upper Bear Creek Road, owned by Denver as part of Dedisse Park and run by the recreation district: boat rentals in summer, skating in winter, a 1.3-mile trail and the Lake House.

Evergreen Lake is part of Denver’s Dedisse Mountain Park and is managed by the Evergreen Park & Recreation District, which runs the Lake House on the shore (720-880-1300). The district lists a 40-acre lake, a trail around it, an observation boardwalk, wetlands, the historic boat and warming house, and a picnic area with first-come tables; Dedisse Park itself also takes in Evergreen Golf Course and the Dedisse Trail, which links to the Alderfer/Three Sisters trails (Denver Mountain Parks, read 6 October 2026).

Boating in summer and skating in winter run only when conditions allow: the district says to call the boating/skating hotline, 720-880-1391, before leaving home. Boat rentals go to weekends only after Labor Day. Lake rules (Seasonal Lake Rules): life jackets on everyone on the water, private boats no longer than 15 feet, no alcohol on boats, no swimming (pets included), dogs leashed on land and on boats, no drones, and no dogs on the ice. The lake is stocked with trout and fishing needs a state license; no grilling, even propane, during a fire ban (Evergreen Lake & Trail).
