Elk Meadow Stagecoach Trailhead
The main Jefferson County trailhead into Elk Meadow Park and the start of the 4.7-mile, 2,100-foot climb to Bergen Peak. Rebuilt in 2025 with a bigger lot, new restroom and EV chargers.
The Stagecoach Boulevard trailhead is Jefferson County Open Space’s main way into Elk Meadow Park and where the county starts the difficult 4.7-mile hike to 9,708-foot Bergen Peak, with 2,100 feet of climbing.
The county rebuilt it and reopened it on 25 October 2025: a new central restroom, a safer crossing of Stagecoach Boulevard, more parking and EV chargers. The off-leash dog area that used to be here is gone. Hours follow the county rule for Open Space land: closed from one hour after sunset to one hour before sunrise unless posted (Park Regulations, read 6 October 2026).
